TIP: Stain 1 will make most re-occurring stains disappear.

TOOLS REQUIRED: HWE, Pro’s Choice DCI Light.

CHEMICALS REQUIRED: Stain Magic and Power Gel.

Suggestions and Cautions:

This is considered a dispersed dye and is one of the most difficult stains you will encounter, however if you have the Pro’s Choice DCI Light you can achieve miraculous results.

If you do not have a DCI Light you can use a secondary procedure with a steam iron but be advised it is possible to cause the Stain Magic to over-react and pull color from the carpet.  The DCI Light is REALLY the safest and most effective way to remove these stains.

It is MOST important NOT to apply heat either from high temperature cleaning or from stain removal procedures other than the procedure, which follows:

The performance of this procedure will vary depending on three things:

  1. What previous treatments have been made to the stain.
  2. The age of the stain.
  3. Your treatment technique.

PROCEDURE:

Using DCI Light:

  1. Apply Power Gel to contamination and agitate.
  2. Thoroughly extraction rinse stain to remove all staining material and detergents.
  3. Blot the stain dry with absorbent towel.
  4. Saturate stain with Stain Magic solution.
  5. Cover stain with DCI Chemical Activation Light.
  6. Allow lamp to dwell until stain disappears. This time will vary from 30 minutes to 6 hours depending on severity of stain.

No DCI Light:

  1. Apply Power Gel to contamination and agitate.
  2. Thoroughly extraction rinse stain to remove all staining material and detergents.
  3. Blot the stain dry with absorbent towel.
  4. Saturate stain with Stain Magic solution.

TOOLS REQUIRED: HWE, Trigger Sprayer and Carpet Shark.

CHEMICALS REQUIRED: Power Gel and Stain Magic.

PROCEDURE:

  1. Dry vacuum area thoroughly to remove as much excess contamination as possible (this is very important).
  2. Apply dilute solution (15:1) Power Gel to contaminated fibers.
  3. Using Carpet Shark, agitate treated area until contamination becomes suspended in foam.
  4. Dry extract (no water) foam.
  5. Repeat steps 2 through 4 until foam no longer colors from substance.
  6. Thoroughly hot water extraction rinse area to remove Power Gel solution.
  7. If light color residue remains apply Stain Magic and allow dwell time. Stain will disappear as it dries.

TOOLS REQUIRED: HWE and Carpet Shark.

CHEMICALS REQUIRED: Stain Magic and Power Gel.

PROCEDURE:

  1. Pre spray stained area with a dilute solution (20:1) of Power Gel.
  2. Agitate gently but thoroughly to emulsify contamination.
  3. Hot water extraction rinse spot, and leave carpet as dry as possible by blotting with a dry towel.
  4. If stain remains, apply Stain Magic to the discolored fibers with trigger sprayer and gently agitate.

Tip: Stain will disappear in 1 to 8 hours depending on severity. To speed stain removal, use the Pro’s Choice DCI Light with the Chemical Activation Bulb.

TOOLS REQUIRED: HWE, Carpet Shark, trigger sprayer, steam iron and a terrycloth towel.

CHEMICALS REQUIRED: Red Relief

PROCEDURE:

  1. Clean stained area using hot water extraction.
  2. Blot area dry with clean white towel to remove excess moisture from carpet.
  3. Mix Red Relief Part A and Part B in equal parts.
  4. Using trigger sprayer, wet stained fibers with Red Relief mixture.
  5. Cover spot with a moderately wet (excess water squeezed out) terry towel. Note: A lightweight-cleaning towel folded double works well here.
  6. Apply steam heat from an iron set at the lowest steam temperature.
  7. Check the stain every 30 seconds.
  8. When the stain has turned to a light yellow or has disappeared, remove heat and towel.
  9. Extraction rinse chemical residue away.

Tips: Usually incomplete stain removal is the result of insufficient heating time (high temperature is not necessary but dwell time is important).

Red Relief will continue to work on stains which have penetrated dye sites even after you have rinsed the carpet clean. Because of this, you will find that if the slightest tinge of red remains following your treatment, it will disappear overnight.

The type of iron you use is IMPORTANT, here’s why… Conventional irons can work against you because of uneven heat/steam application to the carpet. The iron that will serve you best is an iron which has steam vents covering the ironing surface rather than one with with a single row of vents around the perimeter of the ironing surface.

TOOLS REQUIRED: HWE, Carpet Shark, trigger sprayer, steam iron and a terrycloth towel.

It is MOST important NOT to apply heat either from high temperature cleaning or from stain removal procedures other than the procedure, which follows: The performance of this procedure will vary depending on three things:

  5. Cover the area with a damp towel folded in half.
  6. Using a steam iron set on the lowest “steam” setting and actively producing steam apply heat in 10 second increments (up to 3 applications). If color loss or fiber distortion is observed discontinue immediately and advise customer that remaining stain is permanent.

Not all stains are easily identified and this guide is by no means a complete reference.  If you have additional questions contact technical support at (800) 368-1247.

  1. Apply Pro Solve gel.  If Stain responds, agitate until stain is dissolved.  Apply Power Gel and agitate to emulsify deposit and extract.
  2. If stain does not respond, extract and blot area dry.  Apply Power Gel and agitate.  If stain responds, agitate to break down and emulsify stain then extract to remove suspended contamination.
  3. If stain does not respond, extract and blot area dry.  Observe the staining material.  If stain appears to be more brilliant, apply Red Relief or Red 1 according to the directions.  If the stain appears to be muted or dull, apply a solution of Stain Magic or Stain 1 and allow to dry.

  2. Apply solution to stained fibers to thoroughly wet fibers.
  3. Gently but thoroughly agitate fibers to break up and emulsify deposit. Dwell time will help the biochemistry work for you here.
  4. Thoroughly rinse via water extraction leaving carpet as dry as possible (do not use an acid rinsing agent here).
  5. Apply Stain Blotter powder to absorb any wicking that might occur during drying.
  6. When spot is completely dry, vacuum thoroughly.

SUGGESTIONS AND CAUTIONS:

Also, you may experience wicking on heavier deposits. If deposit is heavy enough to have soaked through backing and into pad, replace the contaminated pad and clean carpet backing as outlined in Steps 1 through 5 above.

Wicking can be corrected by using an absorbent powder such as Stain Blotter. Simply cover spot liberally with Stain Blotter following your stain removal process. The wicking will go into the Stain Blotter and can then be vacuumed away when dry.

TIP: Stain 1 will make most re-occurring stains disappear.

It is MOST important NOT to apply heat either from high temperature cleaning or from stain removal procedures other than the procedure, which follows: The performance of this procedure will vary depending on three things:

TOOLS REQUIREDHWE, Carpet Shark and Plastic Sheet.

CHEMICALS REQUIRED: Stain Magic, Rust Away and Pro Solve Gel.

PROCEDURE:

Furniture stains are normally caused by one of the following:

  1. Rust from metal leg supports.
  2. Tannin color leaching from wood.
  3. Dye from the furniture finish.

Tip: You will be able to remove stains caused by rust and tannin but you will not always be successful in removing stains caused by dye in the finish on the furniture.

Caution: When testing for rust test on a small area only as rust remover may set tannin and dye stains.

Furniture Stains:

  1. Clean spot with Pro Solve Gel to remove oil base contamination.
  2. Thoroughly extraction rinse and blot dry.
  3. Proceed with the following stain removal procedures depending on the source of the stain.

A. Rust.

  1. If stain is determined to be rust, apply Rust Away.
  2. Agitate gently until stain disappears.
  3. Hot water extraction rinse.

B. Tannin Stain.

  1. If stain is determined to be from wood, apply Stain Magic to stained fibers.
  2. Lightly cover with clear plastic sheet such as sandwich wrap and allow 12 hours dwell time.
  3. Severe stains may require more than one treatment.  If stain is not completely removed, mix fresh solution of Stain Magic and repeat process.

TOOLS REQUIRED: HWE and Carpet Shark

CHEMICALS REQUIRED: Power Gel and Last Step Rinse.

PROCEDURE:

  1. Scrape away excess contamination.
  2. Apply Power Gel liberally to spot.
  3. Agitate gently but thoroughly to emulsify compound.
  4. Rinse clean using a dilute solution of Last Step Rinse.

Tip: Solvents are not as effective as Power Gel on this substance.

TOOLS REQUIRED: HWE, Carpet Shark. and Pro’s Choice DCI Light.

CHEMICALS REQUIRED: Stain Magic and Dry Citric Acid.

PROCEDURE:

  1. Thoroughly hot water extraction rinse carpet. Leave carpet as dry as possible using multiple vacuum only wand strokes and blot dry with towel.
  2. Apply mixed solution of Stain Magic to stained fibers.
  3. Apply Dry Citric Acid evenly over treated fibers.
  4. Place DCI Light (Chemical Activation Bulb) over stains fibers and allow dwell time (up to 8 hours, DCI Light will increase effectiveness of stain removal).
  5. When stain disappears hot water extraction rinse carpet to remove residue.

TOOLS REQUIRED: HWE and Carpet Shark

CHEMICALS REQUIRED: Pro-Zyme (Enzyme Spotter) Stain Magic (Oxidizer), and Stain Blotter (possibly)

PROCEDURE:

IMPORTANT: Do not use high temperature cleaning or heat activated stain removal procedures on these types of stains.

  1. Mix Pro-Zyme according to directions on bottle.

TOOLS REQUIRED: HWE and a pump sprayer.

CHEMICALS REQUIRED: Last Step Rinse and CSS (Color Stabilizer and Souring Agent).

PROCEDURE:

This yellowing effect most frequently results from several sources:

  1. Cleaning with a solution that is too caustic (too high a P.H.).
  2. Alkaline off gassing from concrete being prevented from carpet.
  3. From water damage.
  4. To correct the discoloration:
  5. Thoroughly hot water extraction rinse the carpet with a solution of Last Step Rinse. Leave carpet as dry as possible.
  6. Apply a dilute solution of CSS with a pump sprayer.

Tip: Groom carpet and allow to dry before use. Discoloration should disappear as carpet dries.
