Light to Moderate:

Looking at the diagram to the right you can see there are light deposits of urine are located throughout the room.

Single deposits that haven't penetrated the backing and pad of the carpet are going to be easier to treat than multiple deposits that have penetrated the carpet backing.

The product of choice to use on this is going to be Molecular Modifier or as an alternative Odor Zyme.

Step 1. Apply Molecular Modifier or Odor Zyme with a pump sprayer and saturate affected areas.
Step 2. Allow 1 to 72 hours dwell time.
Step 3. Clean carpet thoroughly.

light odor contamination

Molecular Modifier and Odor Zyme are wide spectrum enzyme based odor control products that digest contamination and have odor modifiers to mask the odors while the product is working.  You will find that even though Molecular Modifier was designed for removing odors it will often help with the visible stains as well.

Molecular Modifier is ideal for wool wall-to-wall carpets (because OSR can't be used on natural fibers) and also for areas with wood sub-floors where excessive moisture cannot be used. Ideally we want to let the Molecular Modifier dwell for 72 hours and then clean.

In some cases, especially residential, your customers may not be able to spread out the treatment for that long. Apply Molecular Modifier as a pretreatment to the contaminated areas and allow as much dwell time as possible (an hour)) then pre-spray and clean.  Don't be as aggressive in cleaning the treated areas, we want to clean the face fibers but leave a residual amount of Molecular Modifier in the backing of the carpet to keep working as it dries.

A question that is often asked is, “Can I treat the carpet with Molecular Modifier after I clean and leave it in”? The answer is no, enzyme treatments require a carrier to keep the bacteria in suspension, this carrier is usually a surfactant and will leave a residue that will attract soil and leave the carpet feeling sticky if not extracted.
